David Heath has welcomed the news that the Carnivals in Somerset Promotion Project (CISPP) have been awarded a Your Heritage grant of £41,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The money will go to purchase and fit out a van with the CISPP archive and an exhibition detailing the history of the illuminated carnival in Somerset.

Mr Heath said: “I’ve always felt proud of the Somerset carnival; it is so unique to our area. I am pleased that the CISPP have been awarded this grant and that they will be able to show people the history of the illuminated carnival.”
